Solidification of N-Octadecane paraffin wax

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5335568
Four freezing experiments with N-Octadecane paraffin wax are described. Their results are analyzed using a variety of mathematical techniques for conduction phase-change problems. From such mathematical analyses it is concluded, among other things, that the effective thermal conductivity of the solid wax in our case is about 3.5 times the literature value; this value was verified by independent experimental measurements.
