Title: Chronic lead poisoning in a cow

Journal Article · · J. Environ. Syst.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5317612

The diagnosis of long-standing lead poisoning in a cow was based on clinical signs, laboratory findings, and response to therapy. These included anemia, melena, constipation, abdominal pain, basophilic stippling of the erythrocytes, increased fragility of RBC, intense normoblastic activity of the bone marrow, and elevated liver lead concentrations. Liver specimens were obtained by biopsy. Calcium ethylenediamine-tetraacetate (CaEDTA) was used successfully in treating the cow.
