The leptonic decay of the ..pi.. meson and the pionic decay of the tau lepton are studied in strong electromagnetic fields of two types: a constant crossed field and the field of an electromagnetic plane wave of arbitrary polarization. Expressions are obtained for the decay probabilities taking into account the nonzero neutrino mass and the various spin orientations of all the particles with spin participating in the reactions. It is shown that the probability for producing a lepton with the ''incorrect'' polarization depends on the neutrino mass, which may be of interest for solving the problem of the determination of the neutrino mass. The inclusion of the effect of the external field and the presence of spin effects give new information on how these decays occur under actual experimental conditions.
