Abrasion resistant porous silica antireflective coatings

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5311018
The abrasion resistance of a porous silica antireflective coating prepared from a colloidal silica suspension was increased by the addition of a soluble siloxane binder to the suspension prior to application. After evaporation of the solvent, this binder served to increase the adhesion between individual silica particles, thereby increasing the coating strength. The optimum binder concentration was 20 to 30% and at this level the optical properties and laser damage threshold of the original silica coating were retained. 2 figs., 1 tab.
