Kinetics of the formation of pyrocarbon from propylene and 1,3-butadiene

The average sizes of the pyrocarbon crystallites obtained from propylene (L/sub a/ = 3 +/- 1 nm) and butadiene (L/sub a/ = 2 +/- 1 nm) at 525-625/sup 0/C were determined by means of reflection electron diffraction. The rates for the formation and growth of the crystallites were calculated separately.
