An apparatus and method are described for drying a gas by passing the gas stream through an absorber where water and some hydrocarbons are removed. The absorbent and removed water and hydrocarbons are then passed to a stripping zone, where the hydrocarbons and water are removed from the absorbent. The water and hydrocarbons are separated, one from the other, after which the hydrocarbons are dried and recycled to the stripping zone for stripping water from the absorbent flowing therethrough.
