Electron capture probability in the decay of /sup 151/Gd and /sup 181/W
The L-electron capture probability P/sub L/ during the decay of /sup 151/Gd to 349.8 keV level in /sup 151/Eu is measured to be (0.222 +/- 0.0185) by observing /sup 151/Eu L x rays in coincidence with 153.6 keV gamma rays using Si(Li) and Ge(Li) detectors. This value is in agreement with the theoretical value of 0.21. The probability of K-electron capture P/sub K/ in the decay of /sup 181/W to 136.3 and 158.7 keV levels in /sup 181/Ta are measured to be 0.149 +/- 0.013 and 0.068 +/- 0.100 respectively. The L-electron capture probabilities are measured to be 0.57 +/- 0.064 and 0.609 +/- 0.079 in the decay to the levels at 136.3 keV and 158.7 keV levels respectively. An average value of 229 +/- 15 keV for Q/sub EC/ is deduced from these experimental capture probabilities.
