Hydrotreatment catalyst activity enhancement. Quarterly report No. 8, May 1, 1985-July 31, 1985. [1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene]

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5292863

Four model compound hydrogenation runs were conducted using Tetralin doctored with 0.5% CS/sub 2/ and/or titanocene dichloride (100 ppM Ti). In-situ hydrogen sulfide combined with titanocene dichloride shows significant hydrogenation activity enhancement. Analysis of the catalyst samples from different locations within the gradientless reactor catalyst bed shows that the catalyst bed does not coke uniformly and there is a wide range of coke on the catalyst. The catalyst pellets at the center of the bed coke more rapidly than the pellets near the edges of the bed. Three hydrotreatment experiments using SRC-II middle distillate were conducted in a trickle bed reactor to establish the baseline results and to determine the appropriate operating conditions for free-radical study. 2 refs., 11 figs., 10 tabs.
