This patent describes improvement in an improved method for recovering oil from a subterranean, hydrocarbon-bearing formation which is penetrated by at least one injection well and at least one production well, wherein a non-aqueous displacement fluid is injected into the formation through the injection well and fluids are produced from the production well. The improvement comprises controlling the mobility of the displacement fluid in a high permeability zone of the formation by dissolving in the non-aqueous displacement fluid an effective amount of a solute prior to injecting the fluid into the formation, injecting the displacement fluid into the formation, and lowering the solubility of the solute in the injected displacement fluid thereby causing the solute to precipitate out of solution in the formation.
