Difference spectra have been measured for electrons emitted in fission of {sup 239}Pu by resonance neutrons (0.29 eV) and thermal neutrons. A difference is observed in the integrated yields of electrons with energies in the range 140--1100 keV which is equal to (1.75{plus minus}0.08){center dot}10{sup {minus}3} electron/fission. This result is discussed in the framework of hypotheses of the ({ital n},{gamma}{ital f}) process and fluctuation ionization of the atomic shell of the fissioning nucleus.
