Single crystals of myo-inositol were x-irradiated at 4.2 /sup 0/K and the free radical products identified by means of ESR--ENDOR spectroscopy. All of the identified products result from loss of hydrogen. One of the products is an alkoxy-type radical. Two other products are of the type --HCOH--COH--HCOH--. In order to account for these radicals, it is postulated that a hydrogen transfer process occurs following the initial radiation-induced oxidation--reduction process.
