Special features of hydrogen and oxygen adsorption on the rhodium (111) and (100) face

Journal Article · · Sov. Electrochem. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5273835

Hydrogen and oxygen adsorption were studied on the rhodium single-crystal faces (111) and (100) at room temperature over the adsorbate pressure ranges from 1.33 x 10/sup -5/ to 6.65 x 10/sup -4/ Pa. Hydrogen adsorption occurs predominantly in the form of negatively charged species which increase the electron work function of rhodium. Differences which are observed in oxygen adsorption probably are due to differences in crystal structure of the (111) and (100) face.
