Flue gas desulfurization/lime-limestone scrubbing design considerations

Journal Article · · Chem. Eng. Prog.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5266706
A survey of lime-limestone scrubbing technology showed that there is still no clear basis for deciding how much particulate to remove in the scrubber in addition to the sulfur dioxide. The trend is to simpler interior design of scrubbers, but some of the newer and somewhat more complicated designs have major advantages. The survey also covers scaling prevention, absorbent feed control, water balance, mist eliminator efficiency, gas reheating, and sludge disposal.
