Mixed cultures in the production of single cell protein from agave juices

The juice from agave leaves was fermented with an inoculum of a mixture of Candida utilis and Saccharomyces capensis to yield a SCP comparable in quality to soybean flour, some fish meal, and two other SCPs. The amino acid content is adequate except in the case of methionine. Production costs for a 100 ton/day pilot plant are given. (JSR)
