Global charge conservation and hadronic multiplicity distribution in a rapidity window for e/sup +/e/sup -/ processes

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. D; (United States)
Charge-multiplicity distribution of the e/sup +/e/sup -/ processes in a given rapidity window is related to total inelastic multiplicity distribution through global charge conservation, independent trinomial distribution of +- charge sectors, and fluctuations in the rapidity span. This explains the narrowness of Koba-Nielsen-Olesen distributions, the binomial distribution without clustering, and the lack of forward/backward correlation.
