Senator Frank Church foresees a new breeder reactor program formulated before President Carter's administration ends in 1980. Church called the administration's stand on nuclear power unrealistic and misguided. He said that nuclear power must play a growing role in providing energy to the nations of the world if they are to develop or maintain high standards of living and viable economies. But, Deputy Secretary of Energy John O'Leary says that the nuclear option is dead unless industry changes its current approach. (MCW)
