CCDs in astronomy; Proceedings of the Conference, Tucson, AZ, Sept. 6-8, 1989
The present conference on CCDs in astronomy discusses large format devices, CCD development, controller hardware and software, CCDs for the HST, precision photometry and spectroscopy, and special applications for CCDs. Attention is given to an array sensor, drift scanning with a TK 2048 CCD, silicon CCD optimized for near infrared wavelengths, and two NSF CCDs. Also discussed are scene-dependent read-outs of CCDs, a low-cost, versatile CCD controller, CCD data acquisition software, sensors for the HST wide field and planetary camera, and radiation test results on TK 1024 CCDs. Topics addressed include high-precision, time-resolved CCD photometry of stellar ensembles, high-precision stellar photometry, techniques of surface photometry of cluster galaxies, identification of a red optical counterpart of Cygnus X-3, high-speed quadrant CCDs for adaptive optics, a CCD Fourier transform spectrometer, and Hartmann testing with a CCD.
