Current issues in natural resource policy

Book ·
OSTI ID:5256135
Following an introductory chapter on natural resource economics, eight chapters then deal with the specific issues of public lands, nonfuel minerals, endangered species, marine fisheries, global climate, water supplies, agricultural land, and private forests. A variety of problems, differing in their seriousness, origin, likelihood, and correctibility preclude either a simple common theme or a common solution. The failure of private markets to operate efficiently underlies many of the problems, for which well planned public remedies could be designed and accepted. A separate abstract was prepared for six of the chapters, which were selected for the Energy Abstracts for Energy Analysis (EAPA) and the Energy Data Base (EDB). (DCK)
