A process called Thermal DeNO/sub x/ for removing oxides of nitrogen (NO/sub x/) from flue gas in large stationary combustion sources is described. This non-catalytic process involves injection of ammonia and hydrogen into the hot flue gas within a prescribed temperature range. The NO/sub x/ reduction is essentially independent of the concentration of oxides of sulfur or particulate matter in the flue gas. 12 refs.
