Theory of elastic magnetic films on a liquid substrate

Some new results are presented of a study of solid (elastic) magnetic films on liquid substrates which were prepared by the deposition of a small amount of a ferromagnetic liquid on the surface of a nonmagnetic liquid, for example, water. The diagram of the experiment is shown. The corrugation of a solid magnetic film associated with mass exchange between the film and the volume phases is discussed. The experiments were carried out with a magnetic liquid prepared in VNIPICazpererabotka with magnetization about 100 kA/m.
