Acquisition and handling of data by computer in fermentation installations

Recent developments in fermentation technology have greatly increased the volume of data handled by large fermentation laboratories. In this article we describe a fermentation installation linked to a computer which collects, stores, and handles the experimental data and also controls the operation of the fermentors. The numerous advantages of the system over traditional methods of control and data handling are discussed.
