Ignition control system for an internal combustion engine

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5247969
This patent describes an ignition system for an internal combustion engine, an ignition control system, comprising: means for providing a speed signal indicative of the speed of the engine; means for providing a flow signal indicative of the air flow to the induction system of the engine; means for providing a temperature signal indicative of the temperature of the engine; means for detecting the crank angle of the engine; ignition timing means for generating a spark timing signal which is responsive to the speed and flow signals during predetermined operating conditions of the engine, and which is responsive only to the speed signal during a predetermined low speed running condition of the engine; means for generating an ignition signal in response to the crank angle detecting means and the spark timing signal during the running of the engine, including means for generating an ignition signal having a predetermined advance during the starting of the engine.
