This conference was held April 11--13, 1994 in Quebec, Canada. The purpose of this conference was to provide a multidisciplinary forum for exchange of state-of-the-art information on risk assessment of toxic materials in the environment. Attention is focused the following: transboundary pollution issues along the Mexico-US border; laboratory and field estimation of exposure and effects; risk assessment and human health; wetlands; significance of MFO induction; aquatic toxicology; ecological risk assessment; international approaches to sediment toxicity assessment; bioindicators and risk. Individual papers have been processed separately for inclusion in the appropriate data bases.
