Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5245334
The report, a collection of papers from a colloquium sponsored by the Water Science and Technology (WSTB), discusses ground and surface-water cleanup levels at hazardous-waste sites and evaluates whether the scientific, technical, and regulatory methods currently used for setting cleanup levels are adequate. It addresses current methods used by regulatory agencies and the U.S. Department of Defense to establish water-quality cleanup levels, and provides insight from representatives of water utilities, industry, regulatory agencies, and citizens groups. The report also reviews the use of models and other methods for estimating health risks at hazardous-waste sites, and looks at the roles of hydrogeology, engineering, risk assessment, and toxicology, and regulatory strategies in hazardous-waste-site management.
