Combustion of coal water slurry

Journal Article · · Combust. Flame; (United States)
Dispersions of pulverized coal in water, referred to as slurries have been developed which are stable and fluid. They can be pumped as liquids and burned without dewatering in ordinary equipment designed for oil. The initial results of a study of the combustion performance of coal/water slurries are reported. The fuel will burn as efficiently as pulverized coal, and combustion rates approaching those of heavy oil may be ultimately achievable.
