Economics of a Surplus in Electrical-Generating Capability : the Pacific Northwest.

Journal Article · · Public Util. Fortn.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5240096
The surplus of electric-generating capacity predicted for the Pacific Northwest during the 1980's will call for new utility and government policies to deal with the power plants that are in the planning and construction stages. The author demonstrates how to determine a load-resource balance and how this can be used to set the general level of prices for selling surplus power, which can either be exported to other utilities or regions or efforts made to increase the service-area sales. Both options have costs and benefits, which must be weighed against the costs and benefits of conservation. 2 tables (DCK)
