Pion photoproduction in the Coulomb field of the nucleus

Coherent pion photoproduction in the Coulomb field of the nucleus is discussed in connection with the JINR-IHEP experiment using the SIGMA setup. The total photoproduction cross section is calculated within the framework of the virton-quark model and is compared with the results of other approaches.
