Radioprotective properties of porphyrins. [Mice, gamma radiation]

A study of radioprotective properties of porphyrins in C57B1/6 mice revealed that meso-N,N'-dimethylaminomethyletioporphyrin-I, hematoporphyrin-IX tetramethyl ether and 2,4-di(..cap alpha..-methoxy-ethyl)-deuteroporphyrin-IX have the most marked preventive effect. The same porphyrins demonstrate a therapeutic effect as well.
