Dust-catching system for drying sections in coal washeries

A 3-stage dust-catching system is proposed to enable existing coal washeries to operate within the health regulations on coal-dust emission. Design and performance data are presented on the discharge (gravity) chamber and the BTsU cyclone battery. The system was developed to meet the following basic requirements: The dust-emission regulations should be met as far as possible by using dry dust-catching stages efficiently, since they have the greatest effect on the drying-section costs; the dust-catching system should be compact enough to fit into the available space in drying sections already in operation and under construction; and the total hydraulic resistance of the dust-catchers should be minimal.
