Supersymmetry of the vacuum state in d = 11 supergravity

The supersymmetry of the vacuum state of 11-dimensional supergravity in grand unified models is considered. Freund-Rubin type vacuum state solutions contain supersymmetries with nonzero field strength, F/sub ..mu..//sub ..nu..//sub rho//sub sigma/ (with all spacetime indices). An argument for the uniqueness of these Freund-Rubin solutions based on generalized assumptions concerning the parameter of supertransformations, epsilon, is presented
