Comparative study of crossbar-structured multiprocessor systems

Three physical crossbar implementations for multiprocessor systems, namely centralized crossbar, decentralized crossbar, and distributed crossbar structures are analyzed. A formal multipartite probabilistic graph is proposed to model all three crossbar-structured multiprocessor systems. The comparisons of system reliability performance indicate that the distributed crossbar structure is superior to the other two crossbar structures in both the overall system reliability performance and the cost-effect. 5 references.
