Study of the reaction K/sup -/p. -->. K/sup 0//sub S/K/sup 0//sub S/Y* at 40 GeV/c

The reaction K/sup -/p..-->..K/sup 0//sub S/K/sup 0//sub S/Y* has been studied at 40 GeV/c; this reaction is a source of ss-bar states with even spin. The reaction is dominated by production of the f '(1520) meson, mainly as the result of K* exchange with change of helicity. In the effective-mass spectrum of the K/sup 0//sub S/K/sup 0//sub S/ system at t'>0.2 (GeV/c)/sup 2/ of the f ' meson there is an extremely small background. In the existing statistics ss-bar states with large masses are not observed up to 2.8 GeV/c/sup 2/.
