Gamma scan measurements at Zion Station Unit 2 following Cycle 1. Final report

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/5201396· OSTI ID:5201396

An extensive gamma scan measurement of irradiated fuel was performed following Cycle 1 at Zion Station Unit 2 as part of EPRI Project RP-130, ''Nuclear Reactor Core Benchmark Data.'' The objective of these measurements was to provide power distribution benchmark data for verification of those methods used for predictive calculations and in-core monitoring of core power distributions. Combination of the benchmark data reported here and the design details and operating history of the core allows evaluation of the accuracy of power distribution calculations. These measurements constitute a detailed benchmark for power distribution in a PWR, addressing the questions of gross core shape, detailed axial shape, core symmetry, and power sharing among assemblies of differing enrichments.
