Journal Article · · Pet. Eng. Int.; (United States)

Use of a concentric tubing workover rig recently resulted in a 34% savings over budgeted workover costs of a 7,000-ft offshore Louisiana well. The savings of more despite inclement weather that resulted in the loss of 3 to 4 days working time. Purpose of the workover was to economically restore production in a dually completed gas well with excess water production. The method proposed included removal of the packer and two strings of 23/8-in. tubing, setting a bridge plug, and recompleting the well in a targeted zone about 150 ft above the existing upper producing interval.
