It is interest to study the precipitation sequence of Al alloys with high Mg:Cu ratios, about which there is not much data in the literature. As a step in this direction, the aim of the present paper is to investigate the Cu-bearing precipitation sequence during aging of a homogenized and water quenched (WQ) or furnace cooled (FC) Al-4wt%Mg-1wt.%Cu alloy by means of transmission electron microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry.
