The reflector systems envisioned for power beaming applications are a new breed of adaptive optics composed of large arrays of very small, lightweight segments. Here, the need for a number of interferometric sensor systems during fabrication, assembly and operation of large segmented array mirrors, is discussed. Specifically, an interferometric approach is described for calibrating edge sensors and actuators, and aligning the segments during mirror assembly.
