Stimulated Raman emission in infrared excited gases. [D/sub 2/O]

Journal Article · · IEEE J. Quant. Electron.; (United States)
Using the pressure dependence of absorption, absorption coefficients and detunings were measured for CO/sub 2/ pump lines and the strong far infrared emission in optically pumped D/sub 2/O. The P (32) CO/sub 2/ line was found to be detuned approximately 1.5 GHz from the ..nu../sub 2/ band transitions 6/sub 6/, 6/sub 5/ ..-->.. 5/sub 5/, 5/sub 4/. The resulting emission lines at 50.3 ..mu..m and 66 ..mu..m were found to be detuned from their respective transitions by about the same amount. On the basis of these measurements and gain estimates for the far infrared, the resulting emission lines are identified as stimulated Raman emission.
