Data in this publication were compiled from annual statistical reports received by the Edison Electric Institute from the investor-owned electric utilities and other agencies contributing to the public supply. Data for some tables were obtained from the Federal Power Commission, the Bureau of the Census, and others. Extensive data are supplied in nine sections: Generationg Capacity; Electric Power Supply; Generation; Energy Sales; Customers; Revenues; Operating Data and Ratios; Financial; and Economics--Miscellaneous. Generation totals include hydro, conventional steam, nuclear steam, and internal combustion. In that category inputs also include purchases from industrial sources and imports from Canada and Mexico.
