Real-time life test performance of a nickel-hydrogen battery

A real-time life test simulating geosynchronous orbit operation was conducted on a Ni-H/sub 2/ battery containing cells similar to those planned for flight on Intelsat V spacecraft. Discharge data for 2 years of the test are presented which indicate stable performance and confirm the absence of apparent calendar life and temperature dependent Ni-H/sub 2/ cell degradation mechanisms. 4 refs.
