The purpose of a Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) standard is to ensure that a minimum level of performance is reached by the respirator. This part of the series of papers compares and reviews the ways in which different countries or standards organizations test respirators designed for protection against gases and vapours for leakage due to improper fitting of the respirator facepiece and gas and vapour removal efficiency of the cartridge/canister.
