This patent describes a process for the catalytic cracking of gas oils to obtain gasoline wherein the gas oil is contacted under elevated temperatures with crystalline aluminosilicate zeolites and an inorganic matrix wherein the matrix is associated with either or both zeolites or present as separate discrete particles, the improvement which comprises utilizing a mixture of zeolite L and zeolite Y wherein the zeolite L is present in an amount ranging from 1-10 wt. % based on total catalyst composition.
