Laser mode locking with a traveling-acoustic-wave modulator

In this letter we report active mode locking by means of a traveling acoustic wave in an arrangement with a diffraction acoustoopitic feedback. The active mode locking has een achieved in both linear and ring cw YAG:Nd/sup 3 +/ lasers. (AIP)
