A phi/sup 3/ field theory in a six-dimensional conformally flat space-time is studied at the two loop level. It is found that the state-dependent divergences do not cancel. As a result, the theory does not renormalize in the usual way. The question of why phi/sup 3/ is badly behaved in curved space-time and phi/sup 4/ is well behaved is discussed.
