Study of wind energy conversion for OAHU
This report discusses the findings of a 6-month preliminary study of the feasibility of utilizing wind energy conversion on the Island of Oahu. The fundamental considerations involved in wind power plants are described and the history of windmills is traced up to present-day research programs. Several potentially attractive small and medium scale wind power applications are suggested. Except for a limited number of wind measurements, none of the study effort to date has been experimental; however, available wind data on Oahu are described. Although a number of conclusions and recommendations are offered, this document is in the form of a progress report rather than a final summation on wind energy potential for Oahu. A bibliography of 83 references is listed.
