ESR study of the electron-acceptor properties of the surface of dealuminated H-mordenites
We have previously proposed the use of ESR to evaluate the number and reactivity of oxidation-reduction centers on the surface of heterogeneous catalysts. This paper reports a study of the electron-acceptor properties of dealuminated mordenites and the measurement of their catalytic activity in toluene disproportionation and o-xylene isomerization reactions. Adsorption of the polyaromatic probes onto the catalyst under study was carried out under vacuum from solution in hexane in tubes for ESR examination. For the evaluation of the number of cation radicals formed a RE'-1301 spectrometer was used and for studying the hyperfine structure of radicals formed a RE'-1306 instrument was employed.
