Two new platinum oxo complexes have been prepared including the first anionic complex. [(dppm)Pt([mu]O)][sub 2] (2) (dppm = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane) is isolated from the deprotonation of [(dppm)Pt([mu]OH)][sub 2][sup 2+] with LiN(SiMe[sub 3])[sub 2]. Further deprotonation of isolated 2 with LiN(SiMe[sub 3])[sub 2] yields [(dppm-H)Pt([mu]-O)][sub 2][Li][sub 2] (3) (dppm-H = bis(diphenylphosphino)methanide). The X-ray crystal structure of 3 was determined. Spectroscopic data for 2 are suggestive of a tautomeric equilibrium between a dioxo structure and a dihydroxo/dppm-H structure.
