Effective Lagrangians for the chiral quark phase and the Skyrmion parameters

On the basis of an effective meson Lagrangian for the chiral quark phase, obtained recently by the method of chiral bosonization from QCD, a variational analysis of solitonlike solutions with the properties of baryons is carried out. The results are compared with calculations in Skyrme's model. It is shown that the self-interaction of the pseudoscalar mesons alone cannot ensure locally stable solitons, and this indicates that the pseudoscalar sector of QCD is not closed. The influence of the vector mesons on the formation of the soliton mass is discussed.
