Cross sections for the /sup 25/mg(/alpha/, n)/sup 28/Si reaction for E/sub //alpha/<4. 8 Mev

The four neutron groups populating the ground state and the lower three excited states of /sup 28/St were studied with a stilbene neutron spectrometer. Total neutron cross sections were obtained from measurements at detection angles of 0, 45, 90, and 135 deg. By using the reciprocity theorem, the cross sections for /sup 28/Si(n, /alpha/sub //0)/sup 25/Mg reaction were obtained and compared with those given in the literature. 16 refs.
