Well perforating apparatus including an underbalancing valve
A well perforating apparatus is described which consists of: a tubing-carried perforating gun positionable adjacent a production formation, the gun having an impact detonatable primer at one end and a tubular conduit connectable between a tubing string and the top end of the perforating gun. The apparatus also includes at least one pair of axially aligned radial holes in the well of the tubular conduit and a frangible member traversing the bore of the tubular conduit. The ends of the frangible member are slidably and sealingly mounted in the radial holes, whereby the dropping of a detonating bar through the conduit to detonate the primer breaks the member and opens the radial holes to pressured fluid flow from the perforated production formation.
