Alpha decay of [sup 231]U to levels in [sup 227]Th

The fine structure in the alpha decay of [sup 231]U has been studied for the first time. The alpha branching ratio in [sup 231]U is determined as (4[plus minus]1)[times]10[sup [minus]5]. Levels in [sup 227]Th are deduced and tentative spins and parities suggested.
